In class, we’ll look at “mapping” on the Web. We may even touch on “mashups.”

If you’re unfamiliar with “mapping,” here’s a crime map of St. Paul from SpotCrime.com

If you want a head start, check out this tutorial from Google. And/or you can visit Umapper.com; it’s tutorial is here.

What’s a mashup? Here’s an unpolished Wikipedia explanation. Here’s a more precise, but more technical definition.

To check out mashups, try this link at www.mapanno.com or this example and lesson on mashups. And if that’s not enough, there’s Webmashup.com.

In class, we’ll discuss the point(s) of all this.
